If you had been to Pulau Ketam in Port Klang, Malaysia, Johor’s Kukup fishing village would probably catch your attention, especially if you need to escape the hustle and bustle of major cities. Due to its short distance to Malaysia’s neighbouring country, Kukup fishing village makes a great gateway for Singaporeans and fellow Malaysians working in Singapore. The small village is easily accessible –it is just 100 km away from Singapore city centre and 70 km away from Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Similar to Pulau Ketam, Kukup fishing village is well-known for its delicious choices of seafood and floating houses. Its signature dish is its chilli crab dish. Feeling hungry already? Come over and order yourself a plate!

Most tourists who visit Kukup are Malaysians and Singaporeans, and they would normally spend at least a night here where they explore the village before filling up their stomach with what the village has to offer. For those of you who are into water activities, we recommend the Kukup boat service that will take you for a visit to the village’s aquaculture farms –this is where you’ll get to witness how crabs and different kinds of fishes are commercially bred.

Whether you want to spend a night at the village or not, it is entirely up to you. You can explore the whole village in just a day, but it is advisable for you to arrive in the morning so you’ll get to spend more time here.
